The Brief

KUGA Electrical was chosen by Agile Energy to complete a 100kW ground mount solar installation at OMYA Bathurst Quarry under a Power Purchase Agreement. Facing the limitation of traditional solar panels, KUGA Electrical opted for bifacial panels capable of generating power from both the front and back sides. To maximise efficiency, the installation site was covered with white stones, optimising panel yield through enhanced reflection.

The Solution

Obtaining council development approval proved complex due to the active mine site nature. KUGA Electrical’s solution involved meticulous engineering precision to meet wind load specifications for the region, ensuring a seamless installation process. Infrastructure challenges included the considerable distance to the main switchboard, requiring trenching across the road. Additionally, inverters were strategically placed, safeguarding them from the elements and ensuring efficient operation in potentially adverse weather conditions.
