Case Study
1.022MW Solar Installation, Murarrie QLD
The Brief
The Americold facility in Murarrie, Qld engaged Kuga Electrical to install the maximum amount of solar possible to address the challenge of optimising their solar energy generation capacity to reduce their ongoing electricity consumption from the grid. Given the facility’s 24/7 operations, minimising electrical usage was essential to curtail operational costs. Additionally, the installation faced structural challenges caused by heavy insulating panels, which exerted static loads on supporting beams. Despite complex structural constraints and stringent wind standards in Queensland, KUGA successfully addressed the client’s needs.
The Solution
Kuga team collaborated with structural engineers to design a solar installation that could accommodate unique load constraints posed by insulating panels and meet wind standards in Queensland. They have successfully installed 2,273 solar panels with over 1.022MW in PV capacity, surpassing expectations. Furthermore, they devised a custom connection solution, directly integrating it with copper bars of the site’s low-voltage switchboard.
